Claudia Sheinbaum Demands Information on Arrests in Sinaloa

In the midst of the dispute for control of the Sinaloa Cartel, following the arrest of Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada, Ovidio 'El Ratón' Guzmán López, the son of 'Chapo' Guzmán, will face a hearing this Monday, October 21, in the Federal Court of Chicago, in the United States.

U.S. authorities accuse Ovidio Guzmán and his brothers of using different means of transportation for drug trafficking and chemical precursors to the United States. They are charged with facilitating the Sinaloa Cartel's focus on methamphetamines and fentanyl.

After the arrest of 'El Mayo Zambada', Ovidio Guzmán stopped appearing in prison records, leading to speculation about his release as a protected witness. However, he soon reappeared at the Correctional Center in Chicago. It has been mentioned that 'El Chapo's' sons are negotiating a plea deal with the U.S. prosecutor's office.

Experts have opined that Joaquín Guzmán López, alias 'El Güero', handed over 'El Mayo' Zambada seeking benefits for himself and his brother Ovidio. Currently, Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada faces the possibility of the death penalty due to aggravating factors such as fentanyl trafficking and his long period as a fugitive from justice.

It has been suggested that 'Los Chapitos' have a plan to exclude 'El Mayo' Zambada and take control of the Sinaloa Cartel, including an alliance with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has requested information from the United States regarding the arrests of 'El Mayo' Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López, arguing that these arrests led to a wave of violence in the northwest of the country.
